Salad Is About The Salad Dressing

The salad dressing is what makes the salad better. Do you believe in this? Ohhh you should!

This is one of my favourite salad dressings from my favourite restaurant here in Bali. Tucked in the back streets of Ubud Bali’s spiritual centre, lies a culinary Mecca attracting health and wellbeing devotees from around the world. This mecca of real food lies one of my all-time favourites, Alchemy Cafe, filled with organic, unprocessed plant-based offerings from culinary chefs that have introduced Bali to a real food menu that is 98% RAW. The salad bar at Alchemy Cafe is incredible. It’s a Cleansing experience as each ingredient is organic and has an incredible amount of intention. It’s not just a bunch of hippy greens, no. The large salad bar is an incredible offering that consists of many fermented foods, seaweeds like ish moss, kelp wakame, nori, to house-made pickles and their famous dressings that come in all thicknesses and flavours.

Today I will share with you how to make the sesame dressing. It’s thin, watery and I love it. Especially in a bowl of salad with some sort of grain, say quinoa or rice.

Sesame Salad Dressing Recipe!



  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/4 toasted sesame oil

  • 2 tbsp tamari
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • A sprinkle of #JOY


Add all to a bowl and mix.
