The Way To A Man’s Heart Is Wholefood Love

Here’s a story as real as it gets. It’s from my beautiful partner Scott.

He’s such an awesome guy and since we’ve been in a relationship I love how his journey with wholefoods has evolved.

He’s a bit of a chocolate lover Scott and had a weakness for the supermarket chocolate. Little did he know he was actually craving the sugar and fat that they put in those things (there’s like no real chocolate even in there!)

Now he loves eating little squares of my homemade chocolate. Feeling fully satisfied rather than looking for the next hit.

So Scott’s other ‘weakness’ as a meat eater was burgers….

But I impressed him with my red rice/beetroot patty.. covered with sesame seeds topped with caramelised onions, pickled beetroot/cucumber, sprouts, herbs. mixed lettuce and homemade made mayonnaise and tomato relish. Mmm it’s epic.

And he admitted it was better than any meat bases greasy burger he’d ever had!

I think that burger was the moment he truly fell in love with plant food and said I was a keeper 😉

Here’s Scott’s ‘real story’ of how he found his way into wholefood living, and yes it’s a bit of love story!

I have had an interesting relationship with food for most of my adult life.

It’s been a source of so much pleasure and comfort for me, to the point that it’s been detrimental to my health.

At times it’s been way out of control, despite me knowing what good healthy eating is all about. To give you some background, I grew up as the son of a Naturopath who grew his own organic and permaculture veggies, so healthy eating was a big part of my upbringing.

What’s interesting is that although I was aware of what is “good for me”, I was frequently consuming food that ultimately leads to me being overweight, pre-diabetic, suffering from chronic bouts of gout for 12 years and feeling sluggish, unmotivated and hating the body I had ultimately created for myself.

Of course, this did not happen overnight, and there were periods I would hit the gym and start a new health kick, but nothing was permanent for me.

It all changed when I moved to Bali

When I moved to Bali, Indonesia 4 years ago, a change was begun.  A fresh start for me to look at this aspect of my life.

I had met Tyler Tolman through mutual friends that I went downhill mountain bike riding with.  It was through my connecting friend John, who through Tyler’s Advice, had cured his celiacs disease and his dependency on reading glasses, that I took a consultation with Tyler, and this set the ball rolling for a new me, a new look on life and my health.

Through Tyler, I discover the many benefits of juice fasting and eating raw and wholefoods.  I did a 3-month ‘reset’ program with him that almost completely cured of all my health conditions.

Then the pendulum swung again.

So after this ‘reset’ came the period of adjusting back to a ‘normal’ way of eating..  which eventually I started to put weight back on again.

Enter in the picture was Chef Cynthia Louise, a close friend and colleague of Tyler, and an extraordinary woman who specialises in wholefoods and a plant based eating.

When I experienced the legendary cooking from Chef Cynthia, I was nothing short of being blown away by the complex flavours and the creativeness with how she puts her meals together. They were simple ingredients, that just blended in so well and tasted so fantastic.  And it was only after a few weeks of eating like this a massive transition took place.

I stopped craving really sweet and fatty foods.

I felt so full and satisfied after every meal, I was snacking less and when I did it was mostly of nuts and fresh fruit.  I started losing weight, gaining vitality and energy.. and I was not missing my previous meat and processed food heavy diet.   My transition towards wholefoods and plant based meals had well and truly begun.

What was a total surprise to me, is that the food I loved and thought would be hard to go without was indeed a thing of the pastChef

Cynthia taught me that when you eat this way… Nothing Is Ever Missing!!!

My taste buds have since changed so much that I really can appreciate the chemical free food, I now love dark chocolate.. and stay away from anything that had been artificially sweetened, it’s like my body rejects this ‘food’ now.

I have since enjoyed the benefits of intermittent fasting… only having lots of water until noon 4-5 days a week, and just filling myself up with wonderful plant-based wholefoods for the rest of the day.  I have been able to maintain my weight, which I have always struggled to do in the past.

The most remarkable things are that I still get to enjoy pasta, pizza and burgers and all the types of food that I craved and that really was not in my best interest…

….but this time I have a new take on exactly how to create this food for myself!!

Sharing WholeFood With Others…

Just the other day I was at home with my parents and brother, I cooked them a dairy free pasta carbonara with a trio of mushrooms, they could hardly believe that this was dairy free and really healthy for them!!

I can’t thank Cynthia enough for the encouragement, support, advice and training she has given me.

It’s changed my life and completely transformed me…

People are always, and I mean always telling me when they see me how healthy I look, well apart from a good tan, I tell them that it’s all the food that I’m eating that has been inspired by Chef Cynthia Louise that has made me look, feel and be so healthy.

And of course, I’m also in love with the CHEF!!
