This real story about learning how to cook is from the gorgeous Bettina Allen who attended the first ever Praxis retreat I did with Tyler Tolman. Bettina’s been so inspired she’s actually come back to help crew on this retreat.

I want to share her words with you here to inspire those of you who might be scared to cook.

I know a lot of people who think they are not good at cooking. But the truth is most of the time they just never learnt how to cook. Nobody taught them.

Part of the miracle of being human is that we can learn things, all sorts of things. And when we learn things and practice them we become good at them.

A big trick is making the learning fun and doing enjoyable. That’s my mission here, to share a way of cooking which is fun, empowering and something anyone can do, even kids (actually especially kids).

Not Being Good At Cooking Is Often Really Not Knowing How To Cook

“I sit and really wonder how I got thru 33 years of my life knowing what I know now. I always considered myself a healthy person yet the reality is ‘what do we truly value in life and what really are just ideals?’ The crazy thing was I didn’t cook, I couldn’t cook, I loathed cooking and believe me I had all the excuses in the world to never step into the kitchen. My health and what I thought was such a huge value really wasn’t something I was practicing on a daily basis. My body could feel the neglect, for years I lacked energy and my clarity hindered my drive to launch my passions to the next level. My health couldn’t be bypassed and intellectually I had to stop my denial and take action.

Enter Chef Cynthia Louise. I attended the Praxis retreat and like a fairy godmother of health and wisdom, my life had instantly transformed. Cynthia had a love and passion like I had never seen before. She wasn’t just a chef she was healer and I was about to experience the biggest healing of my life.

I learnt not only how to nourish my body but to feed my soul. All my previous belief systems and excuses no longer had a place to stay and for the first time in my life I discovered this whole new world of wholefoods that I was excited to be part of.

I now cook, discover and create and have more time and energy to do the things I love. The fog has been lifted and I wont be going back. One of the biggest gifts from embodying this new way of life is that my love ones have witnessed my transformation and have taken it one as their own. We are in the new paradigm of show and not tell and I feel blessed that by honouring and truly loving myself that love has filtrated out and is helping others with UNBELIEVABLE results, without even a push

Its simple, its truth, cut out the noise and get back to basics. Its not just for anyone, its for everyone.
